October and November...

I know, I know...it has been way too long since I last updated the blog. So here is a quick over view of October and November.

October

Right after we returned from Sitka, I went back to work. I worked in a 3 and 4 year old pre-school class for half a day. It kept me pretty buys and pretty tired. I also spent most of October getting over a cold. But with that said...there were a few adventures.

October in Ketchikan is normally the rainiest month with horrible weather. Although this year we had sunshine for almost the whole month! It was beautiful..and it was great to get to see all of the wonderful fall colors. It was also a great month for mushrooms which made for some cool hikes finding all of them!!

We also had some friends over for Pumpkin carving. Molly, Nick, Stephanie, and Matt joined us for a night of playing in pumpkin guts.

The rest of my October was filled with listening to playoff baseball. It was heartbreaking to watch David Ortiz stand on the pitchers mound of Fenway with tears in his eyes after the final playoff loss for the Red Sox. He put everything he had into that game...but in the end it wasn't enough. He went out on top and on his terms...and not many athletes get to say that. I will miss watching him play next year...but I'm sure he will make an appearance or two at some games!

It was also incredible to follow the Cubs and Indians run through the playoffs!! I love both teams and couldn't really decide on who to pull for until the end of game 6! Both teams hold part of my heart with Red Sox favorites on both. But in the end you couldn't help but pull for the Cubs in the best game 7 I've ever seen.

When working at a pre-school you are expected to dress up for Halloween. I didn't really figure this out until the weekend before. So I didn't have much time...I decided with Peter Pan! Although some of the kids thought I was Robin Hood...which I was ok with haha.

The best October memory this year was the beach bonfire we had for Molly and Nicks going away get together! They left for Hawaii at the end of October. We had a cookout and listen to the waves roll in. There were shooting stars and the Northern Lights came out to play! It was a magical night!

November

It was a lot like October...I worked and tried to avoid catching sicknesses from children. We did a little hiking around town on the weekends. But the crappy weather finally arrived in November.

We had some really good dinners with our friend Peter and his family. We try to do dinner at least once or twice a month with his family! We have had tacos, biscuits and gravy night, and a sourdough party. Our next one is Sourdough waffles and keylime pie.

There was really great tidepooling in November!! There was a -4.1 tide so Tristan and I went out at night again and found some really cool things!! The highlights being a sailfin sculpin and a huge moon snail!

I get really excited about large Mollusks!

And I also love to kiss Moon snails!

We traveled back to the east coast to visit family for Thanksgiving...but that is another post all on its own!! For now I'll leave you with another quote:

If you are not obsessed with your life change it...
